Education  

Law Practice - Mr. Babcock is a shareholder in the Salt Lake City law firm of Babcock Scott & Babcock. His practice is concentrated on both commercial and residential construction, contract disputes, environmental concerns, collections and real estate matters. He has represented owners, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, fabricators, and suppliers in the Intermountain West. He has also participated in various alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Mr. Babcock also acts as a judge pro-tem for the Utah Third District Court, Salt Lake Department.

Construction Experience - Mr. Babcock has been involved with construction for most of his life. He worked with his father's construction company and later received his undergraduate degree in Construction Management. This included a broad range of experiences with the construction industry. This also required working with contractors, architects, owners, developers, and others in their various trades.

Education - Mr. Babcock received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from the Brigham Young University. He received his Juris Doctor degree, graduating from the J. Reuben Clark Law School of the Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, with a focus on the construction industry, more specifically contracts, construction law, real estate, environmental law, hazardous materials, fidelity and surety law, etc. Mr. Babcock has continued to emphasize these areas of practice and has attended various seminars on related subjects.

Professional Association Involvement - Mr. Babcock is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Utah, United States District Court for Utah, United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Babcock has also been heavily involved with alternative dispute forums including the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Babcock is currently a member of the Construction Law Section, the Litigation Section, and the Energy, Natural Resources and Environmental Law Section of the Utah State Bar and is also a member of the Construction Industry Forum, Natural resources, Energy and Environmental Law, Solid and Hazardous Waste Committee, Fidelity and Surety Law Committee and Litigation Section of the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Babcock currently serves on the Litigation Section Executive Committee and is currently the Utah State representative to the Young Professionals Subcommittee of the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee.

Mr. Babcock is also involved with numerous trade associations related to the construction industry. He is a member of the Associated General Contractors, Associated Builders & Contractors of Utah, American Concrete Institute, American Concrete Paving Association, Utah Floor Covering Association, Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, and the Utah Nursery & Landscape Association. Mr. Babcock currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Concrete Paving Association, Utah Chapter. Mr. Babcock has also lectured to groups on various legal topics relating to the construction industry.
